DWP makes first CloudStore buy

Department for Work and Pensions has used cloud marketplace to purchase social media management software

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has made its first purchase from the CloudStore.

Launched in February , the CloudStore acts as an online marketplace enabling the public sector to buy from a range of around 1,700 cloud services offered by more than 250 companies.

The DWP used the CloudStore to purchase digital communication management software from supplier GovDelivery.

The software is being piloted for six months and will allow staff to manage the department's social media channels.

According to a spokesman for the DWP, it will be used to enhance Jobcentre Plus' presence on social media by adding CV tips, training information and job opportunities to its Twitter feeds.

The DWP follows the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in using the CloudStore for procurement. The MCA became the first customer of the CloudStore in February when it bought agile training software.
