The UK Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has awarded a $48.3m (£35m) contract to IT infrastructure services company Computacenter for new computers.

The deal, which was signed on 1 December last year, will run until 30 November along with a further 12-months extension option.

Awarded through the HealthTrust Europe ICT Solutions Framework, the contract includes supply of commodity computers that can ordered through a catalogue.

DWP stated that an order limit of up to 30 devices will be delivered to any UK address within five business days and the users with additional accessibility needs will be delivered within two business days.

It is noted that all the standard orders must be recorded with the asset-management team of DWP within a week of placing the order and all the reports of non-standard requests will be filed after the end of every month.

The contract doesn’t not specify the volume of devices to be supplied.

Previously, Computacenter has worked with the DWP on several contracts covering a range of hardware and software products.

The company has also worked many other government and public sector customers.

Recently, it won a $11.7m (£8.5m) contract to deliver PCs, printers and phones to coronavirus vaccination centres, and a $7.1m (£5.15m) deal from HM Revenue and Customs to supply iPhones.

In 2019, Transport for London awarded a £27m contract to Computacenter to supply its core support services.

Under the four-year contract, the company was responsible for the delivery of service desk and desk side support services along with customer information screens, audio/visual equipment, and meeting rooms.
